Most people must have by-passed lemon fruit in the super market, department stores or even at a friend’s place without ever knowing the phenomenal benefits of this fruit. Lemon Juice intake has actually being one of my most essential morning rituals which has really helped my system in tremendous ways which am about to share with you people. But first, let me give you a brief Bio of the fruit. Lemon is one of the species (citrus limon) of the citrus fruits that belong to the Rutaceae family. Sweet Orange( citrus sinesis) is the most common of all the genus which also includes Grapefruit, Lime, Tangerine, Key Lime, Rangpur etc, however, Lemons contain more Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) than our most favourite genus. Vitamin C as most of us know is a strong antioxidant, which helps break down free radicals , thus leading to prevention of wrinkles and facial fine lines (every woman’s nightmare!). It also help rejuvenate your skin from within bringing a glow to your face. Lemon fruit also contain Citrus flavonoids, citric acid, calcium, pectin and limonene, with little traces of iron and vitamin A, a combination that can boost your body’s immune system in tremendous ways. In other words, making it part of your daily routine to drink a glass of warm lemon water in the morning is very essential.


HOW TO PREPARE IT
You will need, a juice squeezer (manual or electric), purified lukewarm drinking water, and 1 Fresh lemon.
 Cut your fresh organic lemon into half and squeeze out the juice in them. (Tip: press the lemon on a flat surface with your palm and roll it to make the juice easier to extract).
 Remove any seed trapped inside, and dilute your juice with the lukewarm water and stir well.
 For a boost, you can add grated ginger (not compulsory) which is known to aid digestion, stir well and drink.
BONUS: Always use fresh organic lemons; no bottled, processed or anything that is not organic. Also resist the temptation of juicing lots of lemons to preserve in the refrigerator, because most organic juice without preservative looses it nutritional value within few hours of being juiced out from the fruit. Avoid using ice cold water, since that can be a lot for your body to process and it takes more energy to process ice cold water than warm water. Although, I take 1 full lemon a day, I will advice you start with half lemon a day before taking a whole because studies have found out that some people react to it. Drink it down before you eat anything or workout etc.

 

Some of the phenomenal benefits of lemon water which I have personally observed in my own body since I incorporated this morning ritual are outlined as follows:
1. Reduces Digestion Problems: Lemon juice flushes out toxins and unwanted materials from your body. It aids the digestive system and makes the process the process of eliminating waste products from the body easier. Studies found out that it encourages the liver to produce bile which is an acid that is required for digestion and also helps to reduce toxins in the digestive tract. I can attest to this because I usually have indigestion and bloating after meal sometimes, but since I started this routine it has reduced drastically. The Acids does not create acidity in the body once it has been metabolized. Although, this statement has been rebuffed because it is not upheld by science. It is believed that acidic food can under no circumstances alkalize the blood, because foods are not known to alter the PH of your body or blood. Based on my own analysis and observation, Lemons WILL NOT increase the acid in your body, because diluting it with water which has a Ph scale score of 7 reduces the acidity of lemons which has a ph scale of  Thus, drinking lemon with warm water may increase the acid level of you urine, which is an indication that you organs are doing a great job of getting rid of excess acid from your body. So whether it is acidic or not, it’s a WIN-WIN for both contradicting claims.
Others have also claimed that lemon contains anti-carcinogenic properties, thus it helps fight cancer. I cannot really say much on this one because I have not seen anyone personally with this testimony but overall, Lemon has so many amazing health benefits. With these 4 benefits which I have observed in my body, I believe this will motivate you to add this to your daily routine first thing in the morning when you wake up before hitting the gym or eating anything and watch how this wonder fruit will transform your body in a short while.
